Yellow Warbler

Food: Insects, small invertebrates and fruits
Fun Fact: When another bird lays eggs in my nest I will build another nest right on top, sometimes making a nest up to six layers tall!
Sandhill Crane

Habitat: Marshes, prairies, tundra
Food: Plants, grains, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates
Fun Fact: I am a great dancer. I use my head and wings to leap and bow, it’s very graceful!
Mallard

Habitat: Wetlands, city parks
Food: Seeds, plants, small insects and invertebrates
Fun Fact: If you want to feed me at the local park I don’t need bread. You can feed me lettuce, cabbage, or peas, but not too much please!
Nuttall’s Woodpecker
Habitat: Oak woodlands
Food: Insects
Fun Fact: You’ll almost always spot me among oak trees. However, I do not eat acorns!
Anna’s Hummingbird
Habitat: Open woodlands, coastal scrub, chaparral, gardens and parks
Food: Nectar, small insects
Fun Fact: Despite my size, I am pretty territorial and defensive of my food, chasing away other hummingbirds and even insects.
Northern Mockingbird
Habitat: Open areas, parks
Food: Insects, fruit
Fun Fact: I can mimic other birds and learn over 200 songs!
Red-Tailed Hawk
Habitat: Open areas, grasslands, woodlands, deserts, fields, parks
Food: Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians
Fun Fact: My eyesight is eight times as powerful as that of humans’ and I can spot a mouse on the ground while flying from 100 feet above!
