The Tech in Kenya
New challenge announced!
The Kenya Tech Challenge 2025 - Drop and Dash, in Kisumu and Nakuru County
We are back in Kenya this year with TWO Showcases in 2025!
- In June of 2023, The Tech successfully hosted the first-ever Tech Challenge showcase event in Kenya comprising 750 students!
- Last year, we hosted our second Tech Challenge in Nakuru, Kenya - Rock The Ravine! With over 2500 students, 100+ volunteers and 150 judges, our participants showed immense collaboration, perseverance and creativity!
This year, for the first time in the history of The Tech, we will be hosting Tech Challenge showcases at two locations in Kenya - Kisumu and Nakuru! We are inviting around 5000 students from over 1000 schools to our showcase events! We are very excited to scale our program in Kenya!
Since 1986, thousands of students in Silicon Valley have participated in The Tech Challenge, an engineering education program where students form teams and build a device to solve a real world problem. Through The Tech Challenge, participants spend months collaborating and becoming deeply engaged in the challenge while documenting their process and designs. The program culminates in an inspiring two-day showcase where teams put their solutions to the test in front of judges.

The Turkana County is experiencing a severe drought and people are struggling to find food and water. Emergency supplies like medicine, sacks of maize flour and bottles of clean water are dropped by planes and drones in open fields. But they do not reach people in remote parts of the county. How can the supplies get to the people who need them? In this year’s challenge, teams will design a device that delivers something to a target area after it is dropped.
Your team’s mission is to:
Design and build a device that can survive a drop and deliver supplies. No batteries allowed!
Angusha Na Ikimbie
Hakina betri zinazoruhusiwa!
