The world premiere of the largest, most comprehensive exhibit of the innovative art, science and engineering works of Leonardo da Vinci and his contemporaries comes to The Tech Museum of Innovation this Fall for only 99 days. Leonardo: 500 Years into the Future will be at The Tech Museum September 27, 2008 to January 4, 2009. Your students will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see how this genius of the Renaissance has influenced and inspired much of the technology we use today. Your students will get an exciting and educational glimpse into the mind of one of the world's most innovative thinkers. Hands-on, interactive exhibit appropriate for Grades 3-12. For an extra fee take part in a focused 60 minute Leonardo design lab! Meets the California curriculum standards in a variety of subjects including science, art, history and social studies. Leonardo: 500 Years into the Future combines over 200 artifacts including life-size working models, hands-on interactive machines and displays, multi-media presentations and priceless works of art. There will also be hands-on design challenges in the museum's galleries based on Leonardo's engineering, scientific and art principles. Over 100 life-size and scale working models based on conceptual drawings and designs by Leonardo and his contemporaries Artisans using tools and materials common in Leonardo's time have painstakingly recreated each model. PLUS See priceless works of art by Leonardo’s contemporaries on loan from the Uffizi Gallery. Leonardo: 500 Years into the Future is produced in collaboration with the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza de Firenze in Italy.
